TOWLE RECOGNIZED FOR SAFETY BY CONCRETE ASSOCIATION

OKLAHOMA CITY — The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) named Dolese Ready Mix Operations Manager Gaylan Towle the recipient of its first ever Safety Award at the NRMCA ConcreteWorks Conference in Grapevine, Texas last month.

“Mr. Towle’s longtime commitment toward safety in the ready mixed concrete industry and his insistence that safety should be measured not by safety compliance but by the presence of safety, makes him the ideal recipient of NRMCA’s first ever Safety Award,” said NRMCA Executive Vice President of Operations and Compliance Gary Mullings.

Towle was chosen for the award based on his longtime commitment to safety at Dolese. NRMCA’s Annual Safety Award acknowledges the significant contribution that safety work practices gives to the growth and success of an individual or company whose actions represent the very highest in the advancement of safety in the ready mixed concrete industry.

“At Dolese, developing a company culture focused on safety is a vital part of our success,” said Mark Helm, Dolese president and CEO. “Towle's NRMCA recognition is well deserved as he has played a critical part in helping to improve and enhance this safety culture at Dolese. Towle’s efforts have put us on track to being a leader in the industry in terms of our safety results. We are proud of Towle’s achievement. His contributions are working to raise the safety of our employees which in-turn benefits the communities in which we operate.”

Towle has worked tirelessly to make safety a personal value of Dolese employees. His work includes establishing Dolese’s Safety Advocate program and CAT Continuous Improvement Teams, overseeing the fleet installation of Drive Cam incident reporting cameras, improving the quality and frequency of employee safety conversations, and other safety initiatives.

“If we emphasize safety, imagine the impact we can have on employees, the business and the community,” said Towle. “Decades from now, employees will know that working safely is the only way Dolese does business.”

Towle has been with Dolese since 1982. In those 35 years, he has held many positions, including laborer at the recycle plant, a member of the internal construction crew, mixer driver, technician, concrete materials specialist, general manager of the Kansas division, manager of research and development, general superintendent of concrete operations and director of operational health and safety.
